On Thursday the 7th of February. Marvella Brown Johnson was one of the founders of Our Little Angels Childcare Association passed away. Marvella held various leadership positions at the Local Association level. She also served as a past Virginia Alliance Board of Director.
Are you interested in starting a local association in your area? Do you and other child care providers already network and communicate with one another? You may already have the beginnings of a new provider association and not even know it.
Since 1989, Alliance has been assisting childcare providers in the development of local associations and the support continues to be ongoing. We have been contacted several of the local Department of Social Services, by providers themselves, and have also offered mini workshops to provide guidance and information. In many cases, we have found that the providers are already meeting with each other; therefore the ground work is already there. It has only been a matter of going through the formalities of such things as coming up with a name, membership dues, and basic bylaws to follow.
The Alliance is here to assist you with this process. We have information and guidelines to make it very simple in getting your association together. And as a local association, your members can join VAFCCA at a discounted price as well as attend our annual training conference at a membership rate. Members of our Board of Directors are available to meet with you for one-on-one guidance, support, and to provide information, training, and assistance for you. Become a part of the big picture of the early childhood field and quality child care. Together, we can work on the top five Goals of the Virginia Alliance of Family Child Care Associations and promote quality childcare.
1.Enhance the professional image of VAFCCA and child care through early childhood educational training and development.
2. Increase funding for VAFCCA Projects.
3. Increase our voice at the state level.
4. Provide educational opportunities for Family Child Care Providers.
5. Support local associations and increase their membership.
6. Supporting growth, development, and school readiness of Virginia's children.
We are here to support you with training and administrative support throughout the process. Groups of five or more Child Care Providers are welcome.
