My professional career is concentrated in serving others. A career that offers opportunities to make a difference in other people’s life. Serving as VAFCCA President, offers an opportunity to fulfill my life purpose. As a graduate of the Early Childhood Development Curriculum and possessing the technical and training skills I acquired in the financial industry during previous work experiences, I am able to make a difference.

As the eldest of seven (7) children, caring for children came at an early age. After high school, I left home to pursue an education (my college degrees are in Business Administration and Psychology) and a career (as a Lender and Credit Analyst). My contribution to the child care industry is a unique yet strong set of organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills. For 15 years, I worked in the financial industry. First in the Saving and Loans industry as a residential and commercial lender, thereafter as a commercial lender in the banking industry. The mentioned life experiences led to a natural and quick understanding of the child care industry. To date, I continue to focus on the promotion of quality child care while collaborating with individuals and companies from different sectors of the business community.

I have been a family child care provider since 1994. In 1997, I earned a degree in Early Childhood Development. One of my professional goals is to help others become more proficient in the delivery of services that support children and family development. Over the years, I have traveled to surrounding counties providing child care training to individuals, groups, and agencies. My passion and commitment to the delivery of quality child care service is reflected in VAFCCA’s year to date accomplishments, participation with other community volunteer organization, in the school system, and at my local church.

It is a privilege as well as a challenged to be entrusted with the leadership responsibility and the attainment of VAFCCA’s mission statement, “Professionals dedicated to the promotion of quality family child care.” The efforts outlined hereunder are steps in that direction:
