Leadership Biography
Secretary - Mary Braxton
I have 15 years of experience in the Early Childhood Field. Though currently I own and operate my own Family Child Care business, I orginally began as a nanny of several families. I have also worked in a childcare center, as a lead teacher in an infant room as well as a lead teacher in a toddler room. During my time in the center, I was moved from room to room, working with all the ages of the children.
Currently, I am the owner and operator of Giggles and Grins Family Child Care Center. I am also working towards my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.
I have a love not only for what I do, but also enjoy working closely with others in the field. I have been a member of VAFCCA since 1999 and have served on the VAFCCA Board since 2000. I have been the Public Relations Chair and worked on several of the other committees, to include Newsletter Committee, VAECE Liaison, Local Leadership and Development, and Advertising. I currently serve as the Secretary of VAFCCA as well as on several committees, to include Public Relations Chair, Membership Committee, and as one of the VAECE Liaisons.
Within my local area, I have been a member of Kid Kare since 1999. I have served as Vice President of the
Association, and am now serving as the President. I look forward to serving the providers in my area as well as the other providers acorss the state and the children we each care for with my continued involvement and efforts.
