I come from a large family. I have three daughters and one has also been a child care provider.
I have college background in Psychology, Accounting, Business,Early childhood Development , and Real Estate.
I am bilengual and pass this to the children I care for as well as Sign Language. I have traveled abroad and therefore have seen the needs of children.
I have been a child care provider for 24 years.I teach pre-school as well as service the parents with an after school program. I enjoy
my job and see the results by having children graduate from High School and going to college to become a Spanish teacher.I am an advocate for children.
Working with the legislature has given me a better position to help children and providers as well asmaking a difference in children’s lives, the providers, and the community in the Commonwealth. I do training for providers in different counties. I serve on the board of directors in my local church.
I have been on the board of directors for 8 years. Represent the VAFCCA in the following organizations:
1. VECCS (Virginia Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems
2. CECE (Coalition for Early Childhood Education
3. Infant and Toddler Child Care Initiative Team
I am the Public Policy/Legislative chair for the VAFCCA, also on the Pilot Program for Children Youth and Family Services. President of JACCA (Jefferson Area Child Care Association) as well as the Vice President of the VAFCCA.
I belong to: CVAEYC(Central Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children.) NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children.) VAECE (Virginia Association for Early Child Education.)
